5 Years at a glance . . .
Year 1 - The Vision

Kendall learned to knit so that she could make herself hats when her hair fell out.
Many joined in to help her prepare for this part of her journey.

Kendall's hair fell out, and it was hard, but she kept fighting.

“Kendall”
May 4th 1983 – March 14th 2004

A few months after Kendall died, Kaps for Kendall came to be. Kendall's legacy would continue
and many lives would be touched. This was our first ever hat display.
Year 2 - Many Hands Join In
Ann, owner of Knitty Cat knit shop, along with many other supporters,
come along side and help recruit hat makers.
The law firm of Burg- Simpson adopted Kaps for Kendall as one of their community projects. This motivated group
made over 100 hats for Kaps for Kendall in their first year. They continue to support our project and knit more hats
every year. They featured an article about the project in "The Docket" and "The Colorado Lawyer."

Year 3 - Dreams
Kaps for Kendall was the winner of the Denver Post 2007 YourHub.com Community Giving Program.
This was thanks to our supporters nominating Kaps for Kendall.
A $1,000 award was received, and 40 hats were donated. Thank you to everyone who voted for our project!
Year 4 - Still Growing

Lights, Camera, Knit

We appeared on NBC's Colorado and Co. Alongside were two of our faithful kap makers Gina Clement and Stacy Beach.
This was a great opportunity to promote Kaps for Kendall and we had a great response from the community.

We were invited to speak at the St. Luke's Methodist Church annual women's Christmas dinner in Highlands Ranch.
Whitney had a go at public speaking and we received a lot of positive feedback.
Hats have been brought in and mailed in by the bagful or boxful. Hats are quickly being recruited to keep
up with the generous donations made by those contributing money going towards research for
Fanconi anemia.
Year 5 - The Future....
Kaps for Kendall hat drive kicked off with Burg Simpson Law firm and Stitch N' Pitch
Thank you, from Allison and Whitney, for all you have done to honor our sister and touch the lives of
those who receive a special hat through Kaps for Kendall while they are undergoing treatment.
And for making a difference with your dollars that are working hard to find a cure and better
treatments for Fanconi anemia. Because of so many dedicated to making a difference, we look forward
to the years ahead of us for Kaps for Kendall.
